The Urbana Park District’s park system includes numerous natural areas that have been carefully and delicately restored to preserve and sustain the character of Illinois’ most diverse habitats. In some areas, restoration efforts have included planting and seeding plants to re-create native landscapes. One such area is Meadowbrook Park. Since 1978, Urbana Park District staff and countless volunteers have worked to restore the prairie as the dominant feature of the the park.
Earlier this week we took a stroll through the south side of Meadowbrook Park in order to share some of the first signs of spring. Enjoy these photos and we look forward to sharing more, and seeing your photos, as we transition through the seasons.
